8TKO Rules

The following changes will be implemented during the weigh-in and
judging procedures at Enfusion and 8TKO live events, to further professionalise the sport:

Weigh-in:

  • There will be an extra representative official from the council surveilling the weigh-in and judging. Since these do not take place on the same day, this does not have to be the same person. In advance of the weigh-in, the representative will receive all arrangements and agreements that were made for every fight.
  • For regular fights, there will be an allowance of 500 grams. For Title fights there will be no allowance.
  • To win or keep the title, a reigning champion must make the weight. If they do not make the weight, the fight is fought regardless, if the reigning champion win’s that fight, they are unable to maintain the title and the belt will become vacant.
  • When a fighter does not make the weight with a difference of up to 1 kg maximum, the fighter will pay a fine of 30% of their purse, of which half will go to their opponent. Next to that, the fighter will start with 1 point reduction, given by the judge before the start of the fight.
  • When a fighter does not make the weight with a difference of more than 1 kg, the fighter will also pay a fine of 30% of their purse, of which half will go to their opponent. This time, the fight can only proceed with agreement of the opponent and their trainer. If it is agreed to proceed, the fighter will start with a 2 points reduction, given by the judge before the start of the fight.
  • A fighter has two official options for their official weigh-in.

-At the time of the official weighing, usually the day before the fight, IF weight is not made the fighter has a further 90 minutes maximum, to make the weight before the weigh-in time closes.

- The day of the fight, at an appointed time arranged with the official.

It is sufficient for a fighter to be on weight during one of these official arranged times. This is the responsibility of council only, there is no involvement of the promotor(s) of the event.

Judging:

  • There will also be an extra representative official from the council to surveil the judging. This can, but does not have to be the same official that surveils the weigh-in.
  • The representative official from the council does not act as a judge, they only surveil the procedure of the acting judges. The acting judges are only focused on judging the fight, nothing else. The representative official should also make sure there is no inappropriate contact between acting judges, such as hand signals to communicate which corner won according to them. The representative official collects the judging cards after every round of the fight.
  • A regular fight will be judged by 3 officials, whereas a title fight or a fight with two ranked fighters will be judged by 5 officials.
  • The representative official also makes sure that correct behaviour is shown by all trainers in the corners.
  • The acting judges are not anonymous, their name has to be on the judging cards and there is an evaluation of the scoring cards.
  • The representative official informs the MC on the winner of the fight and whether this was a split or unanimous decision.

Protest:

  • A protest can only be filed with the representative official, under strict behavioral rules that will be drawn up by the council.
  • If a protest is not carried out within the boundaries of the behavioral rules, the protest will not be honored and the involved gym could be suspended.
  • Only the main coach can file a protest, other coaches are in no way involved. The protest can only be communicated with the representative official, the acting judges are in no way involved.
  • When a fight is won unanimously, there is no option to file a protest.
  • If the protest is honoured, the fight will be reviewed twice by three selected international, experienced video judges. These judges will be appointed by Enfusion/8TKO. They can in no way be related to any of the involved parties, including the council.
  • The appointed video judges must judge the fight with scoring cards for every round. This will cost €225,- which will be paid by the protesting party in the first place. Only if the protest is found correct and will be honored will Enfusion/8TKO refund the costs of the protest to the protesting party.
